The Sailor NeoPets RPG
Series One
Episode Twenty-Nine

"What do you mean MOVING?" shouted Ji Kouryunno, nearly jumping out of her seat at the dinner table.

Her mother and father both winced at the sound, but nodded. "Your father got a transfer to Mystery Island," her mother reiterated. "It's a great opportunity," her father intoned. They were always finishing each others' thoughts like that. At the moment it made Ji sick.

"So you're dragging me out of my LIFE just so you can make more NeoPoints?"

"Ji, there's a huge market for Chute operators on Mystery Island. Lots of fans and, more importantly, lots of cliffs for Mr. Sylvester. It would almost be a loss NOT to go."

"Besides," her mother added, "aren't you always saying that your friends are a lot of . . ."

". . . brainless bubbleheads without two brain cells between them?" her father quoted.

"They USED to be, but Mom, Dad, I have REAL friends now!" Her parents looked dubious. "Leslie, Kami, Melony, maybe not Zelda, but Zoe . . ."

"The fact remains that we ARE moving," her mother began. "You should say goodbye to your friends," her father added somberly.

"Oddly enough . . ." began Kara Lynn.

The others in attendance at Leslie's house - Leslie, Kami, Jody, Aikouka, Aviva, Tori, Melony, Zelda, Zoe, Tammy, Ko-Kira, Ji, and Brooke - turned to look at her. Leslie motioned for her to continue.

"All the attacks we've seen, well, almost all, have been in Neopia Central. Why haven't they attacked Terror Mountain, or Mystery Island, for instance?"

"Good question," said Jody. "I think Faerieland might just have too many faeries - when I visit my dad there, they're EVERYWHERE." She waved a hand holding a fuzzy red beret around to demonstrate, shaking fluff all over Leslie's living room.

"But Mystery Island definitely doesn't," said Kami. She'd once lived there, after all. "The only faerie there is Jhuidah, who spends all her time at the Cooking Pot."

"Well, it's obvious why the Maraquan remains haven't been attacked," remarked Ko-Kira. "Nothing's left."

"I went to the Lost Desert just the other day to play the Fruit Machine," Aikouka volunteered, "and I could see that Sakhmet was ready if another attack happened."

"Ah, yes; the Rock Beast," said an appreciative Melony. "They'd be ready for anything after that. Although WE defeated it, not them."

"You DID?" exclaimed Tammy. Aikouka and Aviva looked similarly stunned.

"Heh heh. Yep," said Mel. "Actually it was Moehog374, with our help."

"The point is," Leslie said, cutting off the growing digression, "Sakhmet is too well guarded. Sloth isn't dumb enough to attack it again."

"But why haven't any other areas been attacked?" wondered Kara Lynn.

"Actually, they have," Leslie said. "At the Giant Omelette, and on Mystery Island on Lupe Day."

"Ohhhh yeah." Ji smiled, remembering. She'd transformed for the first time at the Giant Omelette.

"So it would be a good thing," Leslie pressed, "to have some sailors on Mystery Island?"

"Probably," said Zoe, speaking up for the first time.

"Although," Zelda added from the opposite side of the room, "it's not like Cardcaptor Sakura will be much help - all she can do is fly around."

"Aviva? Thwack Zelda for me," said Leslie from the couch.

"With pleasure," laughed Aviva, who as sitting next to Zelda. And she did.

"You know," remarked Ko-Kira, "someone could go with Ji - lots of us have to stay in school, but not all."

Leslie nodded and scanned the room. Not Aikouka, not Tammy . . . Her eyes stopped at Kara Lynn. "I can't really ask anyone to move," she said slowly, "but if someone volunteers . . ."

"I'll go," said Kara Lynn.

Following a long debate and the eating of several bags of peanut butter spiders, the decision was made. Kara Lynn would pack up her Buzz and her belongings and follow Ji to Mystery Island. She might not have senshi powers, but she was an adequate fighter nevertheless.

"Finally," mused Dr. F. Sloth as he examined a three-foot-tall computer screen displaying a diagram of planet Neopia. "Krawk Island, Mystery Island. It's been too long."

"Since what, evil worm dude?"

Sloth whirled around, but Abbie was already gone. "Note to self," he murmured. "Have her dropped out of an airlock."

He wasn't expecting a reply, but an unfamiliar low and purring voice answered him: "That would be a bad idea." It certainly was NOT Abbie.

"Who's there?" Sloth asked cautiously, looking around for the source of the voice.

"Can't you guess?" asked the purring voice. "It's me - the Chaos Faerie. I have reached a delicate stage of my energy consumption; I need more energy and I need it now."

"I see," Sloth replied. "I'll get someone on it right away."

Ji stomped down the walkways of the Island Trading Post in frustration. "If there are any attacks HERE," she grumbled, "I'll eat my hat."

"Prithee, milady," said Shoylana, who was accompanying Ji, "but thou dost not wear a hat."

Ji laughed. "Never mind then."

Suddenly she was nearly bowled over by two people charging past. "Hey! What's YOUR hurry?" she yelled after them. One person ignored her, but the other called back: "A Faerie Paint Brush only requesting twenty thousand NP!"

Ji sighed. "Obviously a scam," she said to Shoylana. "Let's go check it out. I have a feeling someone will get reported today."

Although the crowd she found was huge and beside itself with excitement, Ji was not so foolish as to miss the fact that a mutant Grundo was recording the offers. Her suspicions solidified when the foremost members of the frantic crowd became calm, then downright lethargic.

She slipped away, activating her communicator and dialing up Kara Lynn as she went. "Trouble at the Trading Post. There's a mutant Grundo taking offers on a super-cheap Faerie Paint Brush, and absorbing everyone's energy while he's at it."

"I'll be there soon," Kara Lynn promised.

"Good." Ji switched off her communicator and pulled her henshin pen out of the air. "Shoyru Neo Power, Make Up!"

Kelavox did well. Kelavox wrote the orders like Kelavox's master said. Now Kelavox got energy from the people. That was good. Kelavox did a good thing. Good things made Kelavox's master happy.

Then the people stopped and looked away from Kelavox. That was bad. Kelavox wondered why.

Then Kelavox saw a sailor girl. The sailor girl had wings. The sailor girl flew over the people. Another girl who was not a sailor girl was at the back of the crowd.

Sailor girls were bad. Kelavox knew what to do if sailor girls came. Kelavox pressed the Sailor Chia button under the table. Sailor Chia was a special sailor girl.

Kelavox waited.

"Can't you all SEE?" Sailor Shoyru called to the massed Faerie-Paint-Brush-seekers. "Understand that nobody in their right minds would sell THAT" and she jabbed a finger at the brush "for that price? It's a scam, and in this case it's a scam by Dr. F. Sloth himself!"

She stopped then, as a large black portal opened next to the Trading Post table and Sailor Chia stepped out.

"Up to your old tricks, Sailor NeoPets?" she asked. "Trying to turn profits from this fine institution which seeks only to sell a Faerie Paint Brush to a worthy buyer for a good price."

"All YOU seek is to make off with these people's energy," Kara Lynn said firmly.

"Ah, it's the freak show reject. It's obvious why you joined forces with this lying thief."

"Why you-!" Shoyru folded her wings and dive-bombed Sailor Chia. The orange-and-black-clad soldier jumped aside and cackled, "Chia Giggle!"

The crowd parted to let Kara Lynn through; meanwhile, someone yelled, "Who's the good guy?"

"Sailor Lupe!" someone yelled from the other side of the confused crowd.

"Who gave HER all the glory?" wondered Shoyru as she got to her feet, having been knocked over by Chia's attack.

"I am sorry to say that my good comrade Sailor Lupe is not here," said Sailor Chia fluidly.

"You lying (insert non-G-rated word here)!" shrieked Shoyru. "You've nothing but HATED Sailor Lupe. I will NOT have you USE her reputation to forward your evil schemes!"

"That's quite enough out of you!" yelled Sailor Chia. "Chia Chaos-" Storm clouds gathered in the sky as she pointed at Shoyru, and the crowd scattered. "-Ruin!"

"Shoyru!" cried Kara Lynn, jumping through the fleeing crowd. Her Buzz-like wings spread as if trying to fly. "Now for you!" Chia called, pointing at Kara Lynn. "Chia Chaos Ruin!" The wave of black energy rolled unstoppably towards the forgotten lab experiment, who closed her eyes-

-and didn't open them until Chia shouted, "You should have been out of the way!"

Sailor Shoyru had jumped in front of Kara Lynn, using a badly hurt set of wings to take the full force of the devastating attack. Her wings and fuku were in tatters, and she was collapsed on the ground where she had fallen.

"No . . . Shoyru . . ." Kara Lynn knelt by her battered friend. Bruised, scraped, and out cold though she was, there didn't seem to be any truly serious damage.

However, the Sacred Chalice lay by Shoyru's side. It was open.

Time seemed to stand still as Kara Lynn pulled the baby blue and purple pen out of the chalice. The already-familiar words entered her mind: "Buzz Neo Power, Make Up!"

Sailor Shoyru came to slowly, aching all over. She looked up - and saw an unfamiliar senshi confronting Chia. "Chia Chaos-"

"Buzz Wind!" cried the new sailor.

"-Ruin!" Black storm energy clashed with a baby-blue whirlwind, just before Shoyru lost consciousness again.

Ji woke up, untransformed, on a sofa in Kara Lynn's NeoHome. Shoylana and CuteArtemis, Kara Lynn's Buzz, were leaning over her. "She's awake!" cried the adorable blue Buzz.

Kara Lynn walked in quickly. "Oh, thank goodness you're awake!" she exclaimed. "No - don't try to move. You barely held out against two of those storms of Abbie's."

"There was another sailor, did you see?-"

A smile. "That was me. I'm Sailor Buzz," Kara Lynn explained. "The Sacred Chalice appeared just after you took that attack for me."

"And to think, you were sent here to protect me," laughed Ji.

"We'll protect each other," said Kara Lynn with a rare grin. "After all, that's what we're Sailor NeoPets for, isn't it?"
