Series One Episode Seven Zelda Amaryou jerked up in her bed. She had had the dream again. In it a girl with long silver hair leaned against a beautiful tree with a silver trunk. She wore a long silver gown with green sleeves, as well as a silver tiara studded with diamonds and emeralds. Other girls were around the tree too, but they were cast in shadow so Zelda couldn't tell what they looked like. Then the sky turned dark, there was a flash of light, Zelda heard screams of terror, and then she woke up. "Oh, it was just the dream." Zelda said as she flopped down on her bed. She was going to go to sleep when something caught her eye. On her night stand there was a small glass bottle with a silver mist swirling around inside. Zelda picked it up to examine it. She wondered how it had gotten there, as it definently wasn't there when she had went to bed earlier. She could easily uncork it, but decided the best thing to do was to show it to Leslie or Kaen and ask what they thought, so if something bad happened she could blame it on them. She would also ask Kaen what it was. Turning around, she drifted back into the ocean of sleep. It was the next morning, the first day of the trials between the track teams of Neopian Junior High and Neopian Secondary School. Brooke Kinezumi, aka "Babbling Brooke", crouched at the starting line of the race track. Her blonde/gold-striped braids and tufts atop her head quivered in the wind. Her tensed muscles awaited the blow of the whistle. "On your Maaaark, Get Seeeeeet, PHEEEEEEEEETTTT!" She was off! The other racers obviously hadn't consumed nearly as much sugar or Baby Bottle Pops as she had, and were pathetically slow. Brooke started easily in first and kept that position for the next 2.5 laps, and held that position until the racer behind her started to catch up. Brooke could pick up a vibe from her, and quickly ran a foot to the right, crashing into the racer who was about to pass her around the outside. She staggered back and fell, crashing into the racer in 3rd. Brooke slowened/lengthened her paces and crossed the finish line in first. This was greeted by cheers from the students of Neopian Junior High, and groans from the Neopian Secondary School. In second came Yui Tomarra of NJH, and third was Sasami Masaki (no, not the one from Tenchi Muyo, though they closely resemble each other) of NSS. Zelda Amaryou sat in the school bleachers with Kami Neko, Leslie, and Ji Kouryunno, watching the race. "Well, I've finally gotten the communicators to work. You can use them to call the other senshi if you need back-up, view-screen optional," Zelda explained as she handed out the small machines. Each was the color of the senshi's aura, with the 2ndary color for buttons and a sillouhette of the head of the neopet they represented on the front. "Oh, I had the dream again last night." said Zelda. "The one with the girls around the tree?" questioned Ji. "Yeah, but when I woke up THIS was on the night-stand." She displayed her strange bottle. "Let me see that," chirped the graceful voice of Kaen, Leslie's Earth faerie. At the moment she had only made herself visible to the sailors; anyone else wouldn't have seen her. "Okay, anything special?" said Zelda as she passed the bottle over to where Leslie's shoulder was, and felt the weight lift as Kaen picked it up. "Hmmm, I remember this! It's one of the Mists of Evian!" "Is that anything like the Mists of Avalon?" "No!" snapped Kaen. "The Mists of Evian are special mists that floated around at the bottom of the canyons of Neopia, east of the Haunted Woods. They would be bottled and sold for their mystical powers. If one drank the Mists of Evian, then they would obtain the power that the mist held. Each power was represented by a certain color. One day, around 89 BN, they just...disappeared. Or so I've heard." Kaen examined the bottle further. "If I remember correctly, silver held the power of reverse. It was called Sakasa (Japanese for reverse) swirls." "So you're saying that if I drank that, my powers would be reversed?" "No, I'm saying that if you drank it your toes would fall off. Of course I'm saying your powers would be reversed!" "Kaen, are you in a grumpy mood today?" interrogated Leslie. This was responded to with a cold stare from the petite earth faerie. They didn't have time to discuss it further, because the coach ushered them all back inside the school and they all went to their separate classrooms. Dr. Sloth paced around in his quarters in his HQ on the Grundo Planet. "Stupid Sailor Neopets. They're just a bunch of Super Hero Usuki wannabees who only receive attention because of their really really mini skirts. Somehow they have clogged my buisness, cut off my supply of experimental pets, and destroyed many of my minions. They must pay!" The mutant something shook his fist. "I must find their weakness. Ah hah! That's it!" The Dr. called in Sailor Chia, and the 14-year-old blonde came in half-a-minute later. "Yes sir?" "Chia, I have a job for you. Find out every senshi's weakness." "Certainly sir. On one condition sir." "Yes?" "What do you have a doctorate in, Sir?" "Not telling." "No doctorate, no job sir." "Fine! Literature. Why do you think I won all those poetry contests? Now do your job!" "Sir, yes Sir!" Chia mock saluted and marched out the door. Leslie was walking home. The teachers hadn't given them any homework, and Leslie was looking forward to a nice long afternoon of lying on the couch watching the NCC (Neopian Cheat Championships), when who else but Babbling Brooke came along. "Hiya Leslie? Sup?" Brooke said while she was skipping. "Umm, nothing much. I was just goin..." "Oooooooooh, pretty? What's this?" she said as she picked up the sacred chalice, which had been sticking out of Leslie's backpack. "Hey don't touch that! Put it back!" Leslie started to talk, but the chalice started to glow and opened, allowing Brooke to reach in and grab a red pen with gold trimmings. "Ooooooh, pretty! Can it write?" Meanwhile, Leslie had a big sweatdrop on her head. "That pen will allow you to transform into a Sailor Neopet. I'll explain later." Leslie said. "Hey, do you want to come over to my house and watch the NCC? I can explain during the commercial breaks, which, if they are as I expect, will be very boring and lengthy. All commercial breaks for major events are." "Sorry, Wish I could, but I have to go practice. Gotta keep these thighs fit!" she said as she smacked her upper leg. "See ya!" and she ran off, waving her pen in the air. "Brooke, wait! Oh never mind. It's useless." Leslie turned around with her head down and began walking, when she heard a rustle in the bushes. Leslie looked closer to investigate, but whoever had been there was long gone. Chia anxiouisly awaited Dr. Sloth's presence. Once she heard the affirming buzz, she waltzed into the room with an "I know something you don't know" expression on her face. "This had better be good." "It certainly is. The new senshi, Brooke Kemasusi or whatever, has a weakness which I already knew." "Excellent." After examining the bush to no avail, Leslie continued walking. She could look straight down the slope to her right for a semi-bird's-eye view of the track, which lay immediatley at the bottom. She watched Brooke practice with her trainer watching her every move, blowing his whistle occasionally. After a while, she heard a loud THUMP. Turning around quickly, Leslie saw three Devilpups, two Hissladys (one each wound around a Grunka's neck), seven Grundos, and three Robos. One of the Grunkas stepped forward and bent down to examine Leslie. He then stood up, turned around, and motioned to the others. They stepped forward, got out their weapons, and prepared to attack. Meanwhile Brooke's coach totally freaked and ran as fast as he could in the other direction. No one ever saw him again. "Umm, Not enough time for speech. Must transform, must transform... Lupe Neo Power, Make-up!" Brooke saw all this, even the transformation. She tried to copy her. "Lupe Neo Power, Make-up!" she tried to say as she wobbled her pen around in the air. "Wait, that's not right; Usul Neo Power, Make-Up!" She was surrounded by red ribbons and golden leaves that swirled around and flattened themselves onto her, then vanished to reveal the red and gold fuku. She then ran up the hill to Leslie's aid. "Hey. I'm gonna call the others. Try and keep them at bay with your attacks." said Sailor Lupe. "My attacks? And how are you gonna call them?" "I WOULD have explained earlier but SOMEONE had to go off to practice," Leslie told Brooke with a sigh. "Your attacks will come to you. Just say them out loud. And Zelda gave us these communicators earlier. You'll get yours once we've finished off these freaks." So Lupe pulled out her communicator: green with cream colored buttons and symbols, while Usul explored her attacks. "Usul Rage!" Sailor Usul was surrounded by sparkles (which had a strange resemblance to sugar) then they merged together to become a long ribbon that entered her mouth. At this her eyes sparkled, and her power increased. "Usul Scratch!" She did a three-sixty with her arms crossed, then spread them outward, sending several sharp red light ribbons torward the enemy. The next senshi to arrive was Zafara. "Hey, how'd you get here so fast?" "Umm, you know my pigtails?" "Yah, so?" One of them stood up on end to reveal a fleshy interior. "They're actually real ears. I could hear the loud thump when those guys landed." she cocked her head to indicate the VirtuPets. "Kinda hard to miss, but that's just me." "And I thought I was a freak!" Leslie answered. "You know just how to make me feel all warm inside, Leslie," said Zafara sarcastically, before she turned to Kaen. "Should I try drinking that mist? "Why not? I haven't seen one of those mists in years! This is so exciting!" a much-happier Kaen answered. "Umm, Lez? Why is she back to happy-land?" "Oh, I just gave her a pound or two of fruity faerie fingers and she perked right up." "Umm, okaaaaaaay." She pulled out the bottle and uncorked it, then drank it. The first thing that happened was her eyes became all misty. Then her fuku glowed, then all of her was hidden in a thick silvery mist. Then the fog went back inside the bottle to reveal Sailor Sakasa Zafara (Sailor Zafara Reversed). Her brown hair had turned Sparkling Silver, and where her fuku had been green it was now silver and vice versa. After she was fully transformed, the mist sank back into the bottle, which Sailor Sakasa Zafara quickly corked and stuck in her pocket. "Cool, I can feel the extra power. Wait a minute, Zafara Ice!" Her wand, silver with a green emerald atop appeared in mid-air. Zelda grabbed it, spun around, and pointed it torward the enemy. A beam of ice shot forward and froze one of the Grunkas. "Totally aaaaaaawesome!" said Zafara. I'm gonna try that again! Zafara Ice!" The same thing happened, only this time it froze two Robos. "Score! This Reverse thing rocks!" "Hold up. You'll wear them out before the rest of us get to attack." Next Sailor Acara and Sailor Shoyru arrived. "Cool, Two new senshi!" exclaimed Shoyru. "Actually, There's only ONE new senshi, Sailor Usul." Sailor Lupe explained. "Hi! Who are you guys?" asked Sailor Usul. "Those are the other sailors. And this is Sailor Sakasa Zafara. Zelda decided to drink the mist." Sailor Lupe explained again. "Yeah, it tasted like a mix of iced tea and Kool-Aid." said Sailor Sakasa Zafara. "Sweet and refreshing, yet strangely inappropriate." "Dude, cool, but we've got major (BLEEP) kickin to do!" quoteth Shoyru. "You said it! Just don't use profanity. This is supposed to be a G-Rated story." remarked Zaff. And they did kick major (BLEEP). Amidst all the Zafara Ices, Acara Tumbles, Lupe Lunges, Usul Scratches, and Shoyru's wings whacking everyone in the face, you could tell who would win from the very start. Soon the minions had decided that now wasn't the best time to launch an attack, and quickly packed their bags and fled. The press had come as well, and gotten their share of story. They would have stayed, but a plane had just crashed into a building downtown and they had to hightail it to make in time to cover the story. "Okay, you don't have a communicator, right?" Zelda asked Brooke, who nodded. "Then I guess I'll have to make you one. Hold on for just WAAAAHN second." Zelda dashed off into the distance. They waited for a few seconds, and she came rushing back with something in her hand. "Well,*huff* here's your communicator,*huff* Brooke, *huff* only use it to call senshi, *huff* and never during school hours or after 10PM *huff* unless it's an emergency regarding Neopia's fate." stated Zelda after handing Brooke a small red wallet-sized machine with golden buttons and a sillouhette of a golden usul's head on the front, as Zelda collapsed from the effort of running. "Thanks! But... I'd better get back to practice." quoted Brooke, who didn't realize her trainer wasn't there. "Okay. Anyone else wanna come over to my house and watch NCC on my new
42" screen?" asked Zellie. This suggestion was greeted by cries of approval,
and the 4 girls, with nothing better to do, started walking over to Zelda's
12-room neohome to spend the afternoon waiting for Kalora to make her move
and betting on what suit the next card put down would be.
